Eco Friendly/Sustainable Floors

Recycling and Environmental Stewardship

Both Bruce and Armstrong have in many years past recycled and taken care of the environment such as recycling cork waste for linoleum floors back in the 1900s to regrowing hardwoods to take the place of the ones they use for their floors today. Also, both Bruce and Armstrong are the top leaders that produce flooring in North America and they are dedicated to sustaining our natural resources and lowering our impact on the environment. Woodwudy Wholesale Flooring supplies both of these leading brands and more.

Corporate Sustainability

Around the world we are working toward lowering energy use, lowering water consumption, and upholding sustainable forest management methods.

Flooring Recycling Program

Bruce and Armstrong Floor Recycling Program has a closed-loop flooring recycling plan that aids conservation and shields natural resources, and lowers the environmental footprints of the new commodities. Woodwudy Wholesale Flooring backs this recycling plan all the way.

  • Within five years, we recycled more than 25 million pounds of old floors and created new floors.
  • Recycling that amount of flooring is the same as not driving a car one million miles.

Laminate

Bruce and Armstrong both source laminate flooring from suppliers that create commodities to our specifications. Our guidelines must adhere to every environmental, health and safety requirements, including formaldehyde emissions, of the American federal government and, where necessary, regulatory agencies like the California Air Resources Board. The suppliers have their commodities examined at independent verified labs and then give certifications to us on a constant basis. We only take commodities that are verified to meet CARB requirements. Also, on a yearly basis, we then randomly examine our commodities at the Hardwood Products Veneer Association (HPVA) lab in Virginia for OSHA requirements. Woodwudy Wholesale Flooring proudly suppliers both Bruce and Armstrong products. Both Bruce and Armstrong have been in business for more than 150 years and we have continually stood by our commodities creating and selling flooring with honor. We try to make sure every one of our commodities meets the needs and wishes of our customers which keeps safety a priority in all that we do.

Hardwood

Hardwood floors can endure for years, which means that hardwood is a highly sustainable flooring choice. More than 90% of our volume is made here in America using domestic raw materials which enhance the sustainability of Bruce and Armstrong hardwoods. Also, we make tropical hardwoods by rehearsing sustainable forest management and lowering the impact of logging methods. Bruce and Armstrong aid the Tropical Forest Foundation (TFF) which is a nonprofit, educational facility committed to the preservation of exotic forests. We do not use species on the CITES list (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). For more information on this, check out www.woodwudyshop.com.

Carb Emissions Standard

Both Bruce and Armstrong commodities meet the emissions requirements under the California Air Resources Board (“CARB”) Airborne Toxic Control Measure to lower formaldehyde emissions from combined wood products. This quality is thought to be the toughest emissions standard which is specially made for wood composite products. The FloorScore plan was initially made as an emissions quality for non-wood or resilient floor coverings. Even though wood commodities can certify without the FloorScore protocol, CARB verification is the main emissions standard used by the flooring industry. If you have any questions, look to www.woodwudyshop.com.
